Scott Lycett (Port Adelaide Magpies/SA) - Draft Profile

202/95 inside ruck/key forward
Capable of sustaining a ranking of 5-15

Selling points are his aerial presence (he’s going to be hard for defenders to beat in the air), mobility for his size, pace off the mark for his size, evasiveness/lateral movement, clean hands, clearance skills/feeds

Decent tapwork skills

Needs to provide more of an aerial target around the ground and up forward with only 2.8 marks per game in the championships – has the tools with his height and body size - improving his engine would help.

Leap looks decent (I had a slight query over it last year).

Queries over his set shot kicking skills (lacks any fluency in his approach and ball drop is awkward/inconsistent) – field kicking seems decent enough for a ruck.

He has some very promising attributes for a 202cm player – whether he is developed as ruck/forward or forward/ruck depends on the buyer - I think he could be a similar prospect to Kurt Tippett from Adelaide in the long term.

Will he be as good? Not quite convinced yet.

I think he has the potential end up an at least handy ruck/forward or forward/ruck and at best very good i.e. someone who can kick 35+ goals per year up forward and play effectively as a mobile second ruck at his peak.

I think he is one of the better possibilities to play next year out of the U18 talls that will be drafted, particularly given he has acquired some state league experience this year. Is still about 7kg away from his ideal playing weight - which will take roughly 3 pre-seasons to add.
