Height: 188cm
Weight: 72kg
Position: BP/HBF/Wing
Potential: 7-8/10
Style-like: Jordan McMahon?
Strengths
> Very penetrating and damaging left foot – technically good, with decent accuracy, weighting and control – makes good decisions by foot
> Very fluid, athletic mover – explosive off the mark and very quick over distance with a big vertical leap
> Strong overhead ability
> Reads the play well across half back and a good ballwinner – averages 18.7dpg at TAC level
Weaknesses
> Defensive side of his game – accountability and general defensive pressure/ethic need are current weak points
Other
> 2009 AFL-AIS academy squad member
> Ran for GC17 in the 2009 AFL GF sprint
> 2008 VM U16 vice captain
> Played 2 games for VM U18 in 2009
Stats
Overall
McKenzie is a fluid, explosive mover with a penetrating and lethal left foot that should develop into a very classy rebounding defender or wingman at the next level – however his accountability and defensive ethic will need to be improved so he doesn’t leak too much the other way. He would’ve been worth a late first round to early 2nd round pick in this year’s draft.
