Chris Hall (Woodville West Torrens/SA) - Draft Profile

Height: 181.0cm
Weight: 66.0kg
Style: Outside/Inside running small HFF/wingman
Preferred foot: Right
Potential: 6-7.5/10

Strengths

> Good all-round athletic package – testing times (bar endurance) I don’t see as reflective of his on-field capabilities (he’s much quicker with a ball in his hand and a bloke chasing after him) – decent pace (not one paced, can put on the after burners), very agile (excellent sidestep) and his engine is good (however testing showed it to be elite) – loves to take on the game and break lines
> Footy smart and clever DM – very good at drawing the player in and then releasing a runner with a HB OTT (his trademark)
> Good vision in traffic and skills by hand – very quick (often does the pick up and hands in the one motion) and composed
> Clean hands below his knees
> Good defensive pressure and work-rate
>Loves kicking running goals
> Good attack on the footy – always puts his head over it – quite courageous considering how tiny he is
> Neat by foot – accurate and surprisingly OK penetration (can kick 50m)
> Natural roving and FAC instincts – plays within his limitations
> Surprisingly acquitted himself very well at SANFL level – 8 games inc. 2 bests

Weaknesses

> Small and very skinny – has the build of a 12 year old – lacks strength
> No aerial presence - Reach disadvantage for his height – seems to play a couple of cm smaller – limited re: roles/versatility

Overall

Hall has a large number of impressive attributes, however size/build is the major limitation. If he can overcome this through a number of pre-season’s in the weights room I’m confident he’ll be a very good player as his football ability can’t be questioned IMO. The way he plays on-field suggests he has some blue collar qualities so he will at least provide pressure on the best XXII to keep performing.
