Weight: 77kg
Preferred foot: Right
Position: Midfield/HFF/FP
Potential: 6.5-7.5/10
Strengths
> Great attack on the footy and man in close - a prolific HBG winner
> Good kick over the short to medium range – weights his passes well and is very efficient with his delivery inside 50
> Composed and smart decision maker
> Good evasive skills
> Reads the play very well both inside (prolific 1st possession winner and CB clearer) and outside traffic
> High possession and contested ball winner – 26dpg at 2009 TAC Cup and 18dpg (42.8%CP) at 2009 U18 Championships
> Clean hands
> Makes good decisions inside and out of traffic – has some creativity, confidence and likes to take the game on – seems to enjoy fighting above his weight division
> Good vertical leap – can sometimes surprise to compete aerially with players much taller than him
> Good scoreboard impact – high assist rate and averaged 0.8gpg (inc 1bhpg) at 2009 U18 Championships and has high assist numbers at TAC Cup level over the last 2 years
> Offers good defensive tackling pressure and can take down much bigger bodies - ran down tackled Rich vs WA in 2008
Weaknesses
> Physically he isn’t well designed for AFL football – mid 170cm – small frame and had the highest skinfolds at DC
> Kicking lacks penetration and power beyond 40m
Other
> OK pace off the mark and over distance at best (seemed quicker off the mark last year?)
> Played in 2 U18 championships (2008 and 2009)
> AIS-AFL squad member
>2009 TAC Cup TOTY I/C and equal 2nd in the Morrish medal
Stats

Overall
Christensen is a good small midfield/HFF option despite physically not being a great fit for AFL football. It’s been interesting seeing the change in his style of play over the 2 championships, he showed plenty of flair and creativity in space as a wing/HFF last year compared to this year where he showed his capabilities mainly as a genuine inside ball winning mid. He should at least be a solid fringe player at AFL, at best he could be a top 150 AFL player as an inside midfielder. I see his value as a mid 2nd round to early 3rd round pick.
