Tom Lynch (Dandeong Stingrays/Vic Country) - Draft Profile

196/86 inside key forward
Capable of sustaining a ranking of 3-10
Similar style to Scott Gumbleton

Selling points cleanness and competitiveness at ground level, excellent work-rate/engine (pushes up the ground and back), strong overhead grabber and excellent aerial presence, neat ball user with good composure

2010 is his first year in the TAC Cup system (suggests he has greater than normal upside), has apparently gone through a large growth spurt in the past 2 years (previously midfield size)

Doesn’t seem to have much of a vertical leap

Queries over pace off the mark (tested the slowest over 5m at 2010 AFL DC)

I think he’ll be at least a serviceable hard working key forward at AFL at best very good i.e. 60 goal per year player that provides great marking target in the forward half of the ground as the number 1 or 2 target.

I’m not expecting him to start next season, but if he can build up some good VFL form he should be ready to come in the second half of the season for a taste – still needs an extra 10-12kg to reach his ideal playing weight (which will take roughly 3-4 pre-seasons).

2010 TAC Cup (11 games, 8 bests) 15D, 6M, 2T, 5HO, 2G, 1B
