Tom Schneider (Oakleigh Chargers/Vic Metro) - Draft Profile
177/76 outside-in midfielder/half forward
Capable of sustaining a ranking of 12-25
Has a good combination of general smarts, ball winning skills and work-rate make him a high possession winning player.
He’s a neat and reliable user the of the football by both hand and foot
Has good core strength (stands up and can offload effectively when tackled)
Lacks pace both off the mark and over distance, but is a hard runner with good endurance.
Courageous and is prepared to sacrifice his body for the good of the team (i.e. backing back into marking contests)
One of the best players in the U18 Championships.
Brother of Adam Schneider (St Kilda/Sydney Swans)
Apart from pace, the other main concern would be his lack of height.
Schenider is one of those players that is at least going to be a very good state league player and knock on the selection door or place pressure on the team.
Is he AFL quality? Maybe, he strikes me as one of those guys that may be between the two levels in a good or better team, but I’m not going to write him off.
He probably needs another 3-4kg or so to be optimal playing weight which he could put on after 1-2 pre-seasons.
